The ChipNet printing application is based on a print release station, which consists of a dedicated PC (not supplied by Copyguard) with the ChipNet QuickStart Printing Control software installed and a PC SmartCard reader connected. This is how it works: The user logs on at any PC and having created or edited their document, sends it across the network to the printer. In order to have the print job printed, the user must physically go to the print release PC, which would typically be located nest to the printer. The user selects their job form a list of print jobs displayed on the print release station screen. At this point, the user inserts a card for payment and a dialogue screen appears, showing the cost of the print job. When payment has taken place (Money deducted form card) the job is printed. The ChipNet QuickStart Printing Control Software is compatible with each of the following PC Operating Systems: Windows NT 4.0 Windows 2000 Windows 95 and 98 compatibility is available upon request. ChipNet Print Control Software is designed to operate in conjunction with Window NT and Novell Netware network operating systems. The ChipNet Print Release Station can accept print jobs from client workstations using the following operating systems: Windows NT 4.0 Workstation Windows NT 4.0 Server Windows 2000 Professional** Apple Macintosh UNIX
** Win 95 and 98 compatibility is available upon request.
